Cozy Jammies

This post is a little outdated because these jammies no longer fit Brett, but I still thought the pictures were cute enough to share. These were taken on one of the first colder fall nights we had earlier this month.

"What are you looking at? There is nothing to see here!"
"You better not be laughing at my jammies!!"

"You're just laughing because you wish YOU had jammies like mine with fur around the hood and sleeves....

....AND a hood that sticks up to a point just like the smurf hats do."

"Ohhhhh.....you're REALLY laughing now??"
"This is my 'not amused' face."

"OK, since you are laughing already, I'll give you something to laugh about......."

"....This is what happens when folks find hilarity in the clothes I wear!!! Watch out before you laugh next time....you never know what I might do!" *wink*

Winky in a Wheelbarrow

Yesterday was Matt's day off, and we spent the morning over at his Dad and Mom's helping them get their wood undercover. Matt borrowed a trailer from Jason and took his tractor over to help with the process, and we were able to get quite a bit in. Brett was such a good little boy the whole time we worked. I kept looking for a good place to set his car seat so he wouldn't be in the way of the tractor and would be in the shade, but could also be near us. I finally found the perfect spot....... the wheelbarrow. :)

As you can see, he was quite comfy and either sat and watched us, or snoozed while we did the heavy work. :-)

When we were getting towards the end, somebody got hungry, so Grammie had to feed him a bottle.

Rachel got home from working while we were still working on the wood, so she came down and helped is finish it up. When we were all done she drove the tractor back up to the house for Matt. :)

We planted some buckwheat late this summer, and it started flowering this week which meant it was time to till it under. While we were at Dad and Mom's we loaded their tiller onto the truck, and when we got home Matt tilled the buckwheat in for me.

Now the ground will be more ready to plant in the spring.

What is cuter......

......than a sleeping little boy?

I just love watching our little Buddy when he is sleeping. He looks so peaceful and innocent, and my heart just melts.

The Great White Hunter

I had the "Great White Hunter" stay at my house the other day. He was not your average hunter though, because he carried no gun, bow and arrows, or machete. He did not stalk his prey or use his deer calls. He DID wear camouflage, though because we all know that every hunter wears camouflage.
He allowed me to take a picture of him while he stayed with me. Would you like to see a picture of this mighty hunter?

Here he is!
Doesn't he look brave, strong, and mighty? You can tell from his face that he is a no nonsense type of guy. If I were a bear and met him in the woods, I would be TERRIFIED of this fearsome hunter.

I had some time to chat with the great hunter while he was at my house, and I learned quite a bit about him.
His favorite game to hunt is bottles....they are the tastiest! Not bear, not moose, just bottles.
Blowing on deer calls is not his cup of tea either. He would much rather just suck on a pacifier.

No need to stalk his favorite prey either. That is just WAY too much work. All you need to do is cry....make it a loud wail, mind you, and Mommy will promptly hand you your favorite game (a bottle).
You all may be thinking that this method of hunting sounds pretty easy, but make no mistake......

....he assured me it's very tiring work. It's rigorous being the Great White Hunter, and it tires a fella out!

*All of this to say, I love the little "camo" onesie the Bamfords bought Brett before he was even born. :-)

Sleeping with Daddy

A Sunday afternoon nap for both of my guys.

Daddy and Winky snuggled in for a rainy day nap on Matt's day off last week. Matt had just come in from working on the tractor because it was starting to rain, and was ready for a rest. Apparently it's just as much work to wait for Daddy to come in from working on the tractor......both of my guys were exhausted!! :-)

A little while later I went over to the couch to snap another picture of them sleeping together, and this is what I found. Somebody was not sleepy anymore, but was happily chillin' until Daddy woke up. I love how he has one foot propped on the other one just relaxing.

Cider Pressing

We got Matt's family a cider press for Christmas last year, and while John and Nessa were here visiting, Dad and Mom invited us over for the first  pressing of the season.

Here is the press ready to be filled.

The apples had to be cut up and then ground before we could put them in the press. After they were ground up, they would go down a trough that was set up right under the grinder, and into the press. In the picture above Dad and Charity are cutting up the apples, John is turning the grinder, and Matt is scooping the ground apples down the trough. Quite a neat system don't you think?

We all took turns cutting up the apples and grinding them.....

....and we all took turns at holding the babies. (The blur on John's lap is Carlie Jane jumping up and down).

The press all full and ready to go.
The bowl under the spout of the press was almost full of juice from the ground up apples before we even started pressing.

Matt, John, and Dad all took turns cranking the lever to press the apples. The cider soon began to flow out of the spout, and the bowl underneath it had to be emptied several times.

And here it is....the finished product. We moved into the dining room to try out the cider and snack on donuts.

Matt's Dad was the first to try out the cider. It was a little tart because the apples were still a little under ripe, but it tasted very much like cider and not just apple juice.

We all enjoyed a sip of cider, some preferring cold cider and some preferring it warmed up, and declared the evening a success. Thank you so much for inviting us over, Dad and Mom, it was fun!

Happy Boy

Our little Brett has learned how to smile! We so enjoy seeing his little face light up and his mouth open in a big grin when he sees us. He even will giggle at us sometimes when he is extremely jolly. :-)

Bar Harbor with John, Nessa, and Carlie Jane

We are enjoying spending time with John and Nessa and their little baby girl while they are here visiting. We spent Matt's day off with them this past week, taking them to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Catching up with each other as we drove, strolling through downtown Bar Harbor in and out of many little shops, having a delicious dinner together, and taking in the beautiful scenery of Cadillac Mountain and other parts of the park all made the day extremely enjoyable. Thank you so much for the fun day John and Nessa...we'll have to do it again soon.

It turned out to be a gorgeous day, perfect for driving and taking in the sights. We stopped at the sand beach in the park and spent a little time enjoying the beautiful day.

Daddy and Brett just spent some time together while Uncle John helped cousin Carlie Jane put her toes in the water. They were waiting for a wave in this picture.

Auntie Nessa and Mommy took many pictures to document the occasion.

Daddy holding Brett and Auntie Nessa holding Carlie Jane.

I never get tired of the scenery down there. It's absolutely gorgeous!

We stopped at Thunder Hole to see if it was making any noise. It was louder than some days when we've been there, but it wasn't a huge rumble. Here are Matt, Nessa, and John waiting to hear it rumble.

Brett couldn't have cared less, he snoozed the whole time we were there.

Thunder hole in all its glory.

I sat in the back between the two babies. After Carlie Jane would wake up from her naps as we drove this is the face she would give me.
