Limitless
Arlee C. Russell

I've wondered, Lord, how it can be
You hear me when I call.
I'm only one of millions, and
Your love is over all.

How can it be your holy ear
Is tuned to hear my cries?
How can you know what troubles me
And see tears in my eyes?

Do I presume too much when I
Approach your sacred throne,
And dare to think that I can spend
Some time with you alone?

Sometimes I am so weary I
Don't even want to pray.
I feel confused; things all look wrong-
I don't know what to say.

In quiteness and confidence,
I seek a place apart
And rest until I feel your spirit
Touch my trembling heart.

Although I cannot understand,
Somehow I know you've heard,
Like lovers who communicate
Without a single word.

Your are so great, I am so small;
I'm glad it is this way.
All things are possible with you;
You hear me when I pray.

Great God of all the universe-
In joy or in distress-
I rest myself in all you are,
For you are limitless!

Whispers of God's Love

Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

Listen!
Amidst all the busyness of life....

In all the racket, all the clamor
of conflicting priorities and demands....

Above all the hubbub of distractions,
worries, concerns....

Listen!
Do you hear God's whisper?
It will calm your soul, bring peace to your heart,
quiet your mind.

Listen! Be Still!
Know that He is God-
your refuge, your strength,
your ever-present help.

Know that He is Savior, your Savior!
Prince of Peace...

                                         Jesus.

This Day Is Thine

This Day Is Thine

This day is thine, a shining gift from heaven,
Gleaned for thy use from treasuries of time,
Given in trust to hold until the even,
This day is thine, a sacred charge sublime.

This day is thine, to be what thou shalt make it,
Hidden in self or used in service fine;
When thou shalt bring it back again to Him who gave it,
What will it be, this golden day of thine?

This day is thine, thy yesterdays are finished,
Soon will the present join the changeless past;
Will its bright hours be greater for thy keeping
Or by the dreaded rust of waste o'er cast?

This day is thine, there may be no tomorrows,
This day is thine from dawn till setting sun;
May thou at even, like a worthy steward,
Hear in thy heart the Master's words, "Well done."

Think on These Things

Godliness with Contentment is Great Gain
1 Timothy 6:6

All men live in one of two tents- content or discontent.
In which do you live?

The contented man looks beyond his circumstances and sees a better day;
The discontented man looks at his circumstances and sees no other way.

The contented man understands the purpose for which he was born;
The discontented man looks at others' success with a face that is filled with scorn.

The contented man has surrendered to a purpose that demands his best;
The discontented man has selfishly hoarded much and, grasping for more, he will not rest.

The contented man has placed his values on things that will forever last;
The discontented man places his values on things that will soon be past.

The contented man is anchored to clear goals and hardly ever swayed;
The discontented man has no goals that anchor him and is many times dismayed.

The contented man counts his blessings and names them one by one;
The discontented man counts others' blessings and thinks he has no fun.

All of us live in one of two tents- content or discontent.
In which tent do you live?

Obedience

OBEDIENCE

I said, "Let me walk in the fields."
He said, "Nay, walk in the town."
I said, "There are no flowers there."
He said, "No flowers, but a crown."

I said, "But the sky is black;
There is nothing but noise and din."
But he wept as He sent me back;
"There is more," He said; "there is sin."

I said, "But the air is thick,
And the fogs are veiling the sun."
He answered, "Yet hearts are sick,
And souls in the dark undone."

I said, " I shall miss the light,
And friends will miss me, they say."
He answered me, "Choose tonight
If I am to miss you, or they."

I pleaded for time to be given;
He said, "Is it hard to decide?
It will not seem hard in Heaven
To have followed the steps of your Guide."

I cast one look at the fields,
Then set my face to the town;
He said, "My child, do you yield?
Will you leave the flowers for the crown?"

Then into His hand went mine,
And into my heart came He;
And I walk in the light divine
The path I had feared to see!

In thinking of Easter....

GRACE

Why is it God can love us so-
Such sinful creatures, sunk so low,
And ruined by the fearful fall?
Have we some virtue after all?

Ah! no, there's naught of good within
Ourselves, but only shame and sin;
'Tis but the grace of God above
Makes us beloved-for God is love.

His grace is greater than our sin-
So great he died our souls to win;
Praise God! Though sin in us be found,
His grace doth e're much more abound.
