With the man I love....

The best place in the world is in the arms of someone who will not only hold you at your best...but will pick you up and hug you tight at your weakest moment!

The real lover is the man who can thrill you by kissing your forhead or smiling into your eyes or just staring into space.

If I had a flower for every time I think of you...I could walk through my garden forever!

You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams!
~Dr. Seuss

Oh, to be married to the one you do love...and love most tenderly and devotedly.
That is the bliss beyond the power of words to express or imagination conceive. Every day as it shows more of the mind of your beloved, when you have such a treasure as mine, makes you only more proud, more happy, more humbly thankful to the Giver of all good for this BESTof earthly gifts.
-Hudson Taylor

Oh I wonder what God was thinking when He created you--
I wonder if He knew everything I would need
Because He made all my dreams come true!
When God made you
He must have been thinking about me!

You are my best friend as well as my lover, and I do not know which side of you I enjoy the most. I treasure each side, just as I have treasured our life together.

Blue Hill Fair

Last evening Matt had to work a shift in the Darlings booth at the Blue Hill Fair and I was able to go with him. I enjoyed being able to take in the fair and being able to spend time with my man. (Please excuse the quality of these pictures.... they were taken at dusk with the iPod and didn't turn out the best!)

We went to get something to eat as soon as we found our booth and got set up because we were both pretty hungry. Matt had had a CRAZY busy day and hadn't had time for lunch and also had worked late, so he was STARVED!!!
After we got something in our stomachs, I did a little exploring. The horse pulling ring was right across from where our booth was, so of course I had to go watch for a little while.

While I was there, the three-horse pull was in session, and they were pulling some pretty good weight. There weren't as many teams as I am used to, so the pull didn't last very long. I didn't stay for the whole thing either, because it isn't quite as fun to watch a pull when you are all by yourself and don't know any of the people pulling. :-)

I stayed for about 15 minutes watching the different teams compete. The rules aren't exactly like I'm used to, and the thing that worried me the most was seeing most of the teamsters in sneakers instead of steel-toe boots. I'm guessing they aren't a requirement down here.

The teamsters kept their teams tied to the fence until it was their turn to pull. It was neat to look down the row of horses tied along the fence. :-)
I then wandered back to the booth to join Matt, who had barely had any business while I was gone. One of the cars on display was a 2013 Camaro, so Matt decided to start it up, and see if that would draw any customers in. It worked!!!! Just about as soon as he started it up, people started coming over to see the "cool car."

My favorite moment was when a little nine-year old boy walked by with his family and we could see him slowing down almost drooling over this car. He asked his Mom if they could stop and look at it. She waited for him and told him to ask Matt before he got in it. I could almost see him bursting wanting to get in the car so bad, but he politely asked Matt if he was allowed to sit in it. Matt of course said it was perfectly fine, and the little guy quickly got in looking all around with the biggest grin on his face. My man is the awesomest guy in the whole world and remembered what it was like to be a little guy near a cool car. He told the little guy to touch the gas a little and listen to the sound. The little guy touched the gas with his foot a couple of times and revved the engine just enough to make it sound really good!! You should have seen the grin on his face then! I though his face was going to split he was smiling so much!! His mom and dad both told Matt that he had made this little guy's day!! Out popped the  boy from the car with the biggest smile on his face and a GREAT big "thank you" for the "Darlings man" that let him test out the car! He was SO cute!!

A little after 8:00 we packed up the booth and stayed to wander through the fair ourselves. My darling bought me a pair of earrings as a souvenir from a lady who had a booth selling jewelry she makes herself. She does a beautiful job, and was selling her jewelry at a very reasonable price. As we kept wandering, we came across another little jewerly booth where you could pick out a stone you liked and it would be set in a necklace for you. Matt said I could get one if I wanted, and I was about to pick out a stone when I noticed further down the table they had a place you could pick an oyster and have a pearl taken out of the oyster and set in a necklace or ring!!!!!! I was SO excited because I had done this once before when I was in Florida, but my necklace had tarnished and I couldn't wear my pearl anymore. I had told Matt about it several times and told him that if we ever went to Florida I wanted to get a new necklace! Now here I was standing at a booth in Blue Hill with oysters in front of me and sterling silver necklaces to have them set in. Of course, my man being the darling he is footed the bill for me and let me pick out an oyster. Below is what I got!

This picture doesn't do it justice, but the oyster I picked had a teardrop shaped pink pearl inside. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I picked out a little heart shaped pendant to have it set in, and very soon I was walking away with this dainty little necklace.
We made some good memories together... I recalled some good memories from past exhibitions I've attended... I'd say going to the fair was well worth it!! :-)

A Walk In The Park

Special meetings, house/dog sitting, and my vegetable garden among other things jumped life into the fast lane the last couple of weeks and my blog got neglected! Although I did enjoy the week we spent in Castine house/dog sitting, it feels SO good to be home! Matt has also been busy at work, and is going to be putting in a couple of 14 hour days the end of this week going to fairs/concerts to advertise for Darlings. The best part is that I get to go with him, so we can spend some time together even though he does have to work extra long hours. If nothing else I'll be able to help him wash the dust off the cars at the fair. :-)
In the midst of our somewhat busy schedule we were able to take a relaxing little trip to Bangor Sunday afternoon. Matt's family was on vacation and needed us to deliver Pam's puppy to them, so we met up with them in a park for lunch. It was a beautiful summer day with lots of sunshine and a nice gentle breeze. We ate our lunch under a large tree that gave us just the right amount of shade, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the park. Matt's family had to head out right after lunch so that they would be able to get to the church they wanted to go to that night, but Matt and I stayed a bit longer and took a leisurely walk through the park.

Every time we have driven by this park, I have commented to Matt that I would love to stop sometime and just walk through it. The fountain there is so beautiful and I kept telling Matt that it would be a perfect place to have a photo shoot done. Imagine my surprise when we pulled into THIS very park to meet his family for lunch! A waterfall starts at the top of a hill and runs all the way down to a pond where the fountain shoots the water high into the air. This is the view from the top of the hill.

The little bridge leads you across the pond to the other side of the park where there are more paths to explore and a sweet little gazebo to rest in. (Another perfect place for a photo shoot) *smile*

The view from the fountain looking up the hill. It was so much fun to be able to just relax and wander through the park enjoying the beauty of it!

Sunset Picnic

Since yesterday turned out to be SUCH a gorgeous day, we decided to go to the beach for a picnic for supper. I packed a bag full of goodies and we headed out as soon as Matt got home from work. Our plan was to cook hotdogs in the microwave at the family cottage and eat our supper down on the beach. But alas, when we got there, we could not find the key where we were told it was, and despite every effort my man used to try to "break in" to the cottage (including using a credit card to slip the lock, taking out a window, etc.), we could not get into the cottage. What were we to do now!?!? I headed to look for the key again where it was supposed to be, and Matt reached for his cell to call Dad for a more concise explanation to where the key might be. While he was on the phone I just happened to look in a remote spot, and would you know it???? THERE WAS THE KEY!!! We then embarked on the frustrationadventure of trying to make it work in the keyhole! After MUCH fiddling, Matt was finally able to make it work and we walked into the cottage.........only to find there was no microwave! groan Our next option? See if there was any propane for the stove. Thankfully there was, and after this city girl learned how to use it, our hotdogs were cooked in short order and we headed down to the beach to relax and enjoy our supper. It was such a beautiful evening, and we found ourselves just looking around enjoying the scenery instead of eating our supper. :) We stayed on the beach enjoying the sunset and the refreshing sea breeze until it was almost dark, and then headed back to the cottage to just sit and relax for a bit before heading home. After a while, we packed up and started on our way back home....none too soon either, because before we made it home (about 15 minutes away), clouds rolled in, lightning was streaking the sky, and the rain was beginning to fall!! We were in for a thunderstorm that lasted about an hour or so. Who would have thought that earlier that evening we enjoyed the perfect weather for a picnic??? That's Maine weather for you! :)

In the cottage.
For those of you who have been asking FINALLY here is a "contacts" pic! :)

On top of the world!!!!

Since Matt had to work on his normal day off this week, his manager gave him yesterday off! YAY!!!!!!! We tossed around many options of what we wanted to do with our day, but after running a few errands and grabbing some lunch, we decided to go mini golfing. BUT.....we never made it to the golf course! Instead our car pulled into the Acadia Scenic Flights parking lot, and we embarked on a far more exciting adventure!! We changed our minds about mini golfing quickly when we saw a plane taking off from the runway, and Matt found out that I had never flown in a small plane! :)
Flights are kind of expensive, so we only chose the 15 minute flight around Bar Harbor! Our pilot had retired from flying three years ago, but loved it SOO much that he couldn't NOT fly! He called this his retirement job, and you could see in his face how much he loved flying! He helped us into his little plane and pretty soon we were cleared to take the runway! I LOVE feeling that moment when the plane leaves the ground and we head up, up, UP into the sky! SOO exhilarating!!!!! Our pilot knew quite a bit about the land and its history and took us for a much longer flight than we paid for! We were in the air at least half an hour as he showed us different islands and places! He even let Matt man the controls for a little bit, and my man had a blast!! You see, Matt would LOVE to get his pilot's license some day. Hmmmmm....it would be pretty neat to have my very own pilot! ;) I enjoyed just looking out the windows and taking pictures! It was a calm, clear day, and you could see quite a distance....a PERFECT day for flying!! I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I was up there, I was so excited!!! I LOVE flying! :)
When it was time to land, our pilot took the controls again and expertly navigated us back to the runway, where in short measure we were back on the ground and slowing down to park the plane. It seemed like all too soon our ride was over, but I have pictures and memories that will last a lifetime! When Matt said he felt like doing something with his girl for the day, I never expected to be spending half an hour with him on top of the world!(But then, he makes me feel like I'm on top of the world every single day!) He spoils me rotten!!!

Speeding down the runway!!

My handsome man!

A Picnic and Seaglass

We've been having EXTREMELY beautiful weather lately and have been enjoying every bit of it. Since it was so nice yesterday, we decided to have a picnic for lunch. I packed a lunch for us after church and we drove down to Pumpkin Head Island and ate our dinner on the beach.

Our view while we ate!

Pumpkin Head Lighthouse

After we were done lunch we walked the beach there looking for sea glass. We found a few pieces, but there wasn't much beach to search on, so Matt decided to take me to the beach by his family's camp. He said sea glass can always be found there. We had a grand time walking the beach looking for our "treasure",and when it was time to go we had a whole travel mug full of clear, brown, green, mauve, white and blue sea glass. Matt said blue is the hardest color to find, so we were both excited when we each were able to find a piece of blue! :-) When all of the different colored pieces were put together in a jar, they made a beautiful, nautical decoration for our house! :-)

Because....

...It was a beautiful warm, sunny day....

...It was the weekend...

...Matt had had a good week at work....

...I felt like eating an icecream cone...

...My man loves me....

He spoiled me rotten!!!

My darling man added to the ice cream cone idea, and took me out for supper to a Chinese restaurant called Shinbashi on Saturday. It was recommended to him by one of his coworkers, so we thought we would give it a try. It was a cute little spot with really good food, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! On top of taking me out for supper, and getting me an icecream cone(black raspberry soft-serve, no less) my man took me shopping and bought me a GORGEOUS tangerine colored shirt! (Maybe I'll post a picture of it sometime!) :-) I have the sweetest man EVER!!!

Matt's drink. {I thought it was so cute!} He said the lime was *SOUR*!!!

We ordered the pu pu platter for two. It has a flame in the middle to warm your food on. SO NEAT!!
