Thrift Store Shoes

Brett had an appointment in Ellsworth yesterday, and since I was already in town for that, I decided to do some shopping . Usually a trip to town means, grab the car seat with baby in it, rush through the store, pick up the essentials, and rush home again before baby's next feeding time. Yesterday though, I decided to do some extra shopping on top of the essential errands I needed to run. Brett was absolutely an angel the whole time. One of the extra places I stopped was a thrift shop, and as soon as I walked in, I saw the pair of shoes below. Immediately angels sang. I quickly walked over to them to see if they would fit, and they were exactly my size. No second thoughts....I picked up the shoes and cashed out. I wore them all last evening, and they are so comfy.I can't wait to pair them with so many outfits!! :-) If I could find something like these every time I went thrift store shopping, I'd be the happiest girl alive. *wink*

New Hat

We had a great time at our church picnic on Saturday and enjoyed the food, fellowship, and absolutely gorgeous weather. The only thing I was a little concerned about was that Brett would get too much sun. People were careful when they held him, and used a blanket to shield his face, but it didn't do quite as good a job as the visor on his stroller would have done...or the visor on a sunhat. Grammie Limeburner asked me if I had a sunhat for him and I had to tell her no. Her reply was "I have a pattern, I'll make him one." And that is exactly what she did. She arrived at church yesterday morning with the little hat Brett is wearing in the pictures below. I fell completely in love as soon as we put it on him. It also has a piece of fabric you can pin on the back to shield his neck from the sun. Thank you SO much Grammie Limeburner, it's a perfect little hat!!!

I loved the back view of the hat just as much as the front!

Brett loves to stand up and can hold all of his weight for about ten seconds. He concentrates so hard when he is doing it that he just looks at us with his eyes wide open as if to say "See how good I'm doing? This is hard work!!" That is what he is saying to Daddy in the picture above! :-)

Then after he works so hard at standing up, he usually gets kisses from Daddy as a reward. :-)

Barbie for Men

Matt has been wanting a tractor for over a year now, but never could justify spending the money for one. He has stopped into the John Deere dealerships in Ellsworth and Bangor over the past year, and tried them out, talked to representatives, etc., but that is as far as he would go. This past week he finally bit the bullet and bought a small one to use around the dooryard here. He found a second hand one in good condition that somebody was trying to sell, and he was able to get it for a very affordable price. He was so excited about it, he was just like a little boy at Christmas time. :-) It makes me so happy he was able to get it when I see how much fun he has using it. He says it's like Barbie for men....you can get so many different attachments for it and have so much fun with it! :-)
He spent most of his day off this week using it to fix up the dooryard and learning how to work it. He even showed me how to use it, and I took it for a little spin. It's a pretty neat little rig!

He dug a rock out of the middle of our vegetable garden with it.

The little neighbor boys that we take to Sunday school found out Matt got a tractor and came over quite quickly to check out the new rig. Matt was very patient with them, and gave them each a turn at "helping" him drive.

Brett and I had a turn taking it for a spin. I had fun....I'm not sure if Brett thought it was fun or not...he just sat in his carrier and looked at me. :-)

Storytime

Brett was a little more sleepy and not feeling quite so well yesterday, from getting vaccinations the day before. Six different vaccines is a lot for a little boy! He was a sweetheart though, and he and Mommy just had some extra snuggle time.

He slept like this most of the morning. Who could not love that adorable face???
Because he was so good yesterday, Daddy decided to have a special story time with him before bedtime last night. They were so cute together that I just had to snap a picture. :-)

Lounging Around

Auntie Leah bought this lounge for Brett at a yard sale, and he seems to like it. He just looks all around as he lounges, and takes in the sights until he goes to sleep. Thank you so much, Auntie Leah!

Daddy and Me

Just a few pictures I've snapped over the past few days. Brett loves spending time with his Daddy, and Daddy loves it just as much! They usually have snuggle time together first thing in the morning and when Daddy comes home from work. Quite a few evenings they will have story time together as well. Brett usually falls asleep before the story is finished but that's OK. :-)

Or maybe most of all they enjoy taking a snooze together! *wink*
